Exo Exo présente un projet d’Ash Love intitulé Bébé Boum. L’artiste manipule des images de
célébration pour aborder ce qui échappe à l’événement. Quelles dates célébrons-nous ? Quelles dates
oublions-nous ? Des fêtes sociales aux célébrations intimes, que choisissons-nous de mettre au centre,
de commémorer, de marquer dans le temps ? Ici, Ash Love réinvestit des images sociales universelles
et met en lumière des récits effacés de naissance et de renaissance, à la fois personnels et collectifs,
révélant des dates et des anniversaires qui restent encore à célébrer.
Ash Love (1996, Bordeaux) vit et travaille en France. L’artiste s’intéresse à la toile du récit, la manière
dont on l’assemble, la façonne et la fait dévier de sa trajectoire évidente. Par une pratique de la peinture,
sculpture, installation, performance et écriture, il compose des pièces polysémiques, alliant alphabets
multiples, emojis et artefacts personnels. Son travail rend compte d’un contre-langage réagissant à la
réification de l’amour, des humeurs et des affects, pour une ré-appropriation collective, sentimentale
et assumée des émotions. Suivant une stratégie hyper-visuelle, les oeuvres d’Ash Love sont peuplées
de nœuds, évoquant à la fois des situations noueuses et désespérées, mais aussi l’union et l’alliance
que l’acte de nouer peut générer. Le travail de Love est un questionnement permanent sur les outils
qui permettent de composer et décomposer le(s) réel(s) et tous les interstices des récits - politiques,
poétiques et potentiels - qui restent à écrire.
Ash Love est diplômé.x de la HEAD-Genève (2021), de l’Université Bordeaux Montaigne et de
Macquarie University Sydney (2018). Il vit et travaille en France. Son travail a été présenté dans des
expositions personnelles à Continuum, Bordeaux; Prenzlauer Studio, Berlin; Forde, Genève, ainsi que
dans plusieurs expositions collectives dans des galeries ou institutions, au 66e Salon de Montrouge;
Martin Asbæk Gallery, Copenhague; CAPC, Bordeaux; Basel Social Club, Bâle; Galerie Sultana, Paris.
Les oeuvres d’Ash Love ont intégré plusieurs collections publiques françaises, telles que le Fonds d’art
contemporain - Paris Collections; le Musée CAPC Bordeaux; et la Collection Ville de Montrouge.
En 2025, son travail sera présenté dans le cadre de projets collectifs au CAC - Synagogue de Delme,
à Soft Power, Berlin et à la MABA (Fondation des Artistes) à Nogent- Sur-Marne et fera l’objet d’une
première exposition personnelle avec la galerie Exo Exo, Paris.

Exo Exo presents a project by Ash Love. Bébé Boum creates a physical and symbolic space of celebration
with a series of floating balloons on which are printed images both coming from the artist’s personal
archive as well as a standardized iconography. On the walls, a series of paintings like greeting
cards are titled with a repetitive Happy Birthdays, emphasizing the erosion of meaning caused by
the standardization of collective emotional representations.
The artist manipulates images of celebration to address the uneventful. Which dates do we celebrate?
Which dates do we forget? From social to intimate celebrations, what do we choose to center,
commemorate, and mark in time? Here, Ash Love reclaims universal social images and brings to
the fore erased narratives of birth and rebirth, both personal and collective, shining a light on
dates and anniversaries that are yet to be celebrated.
Ash Love (b. 1996, Bordeaux, France) lives and works in France. Their practice questions the
construction of reality through language, using painting, installation, writing, and performance.
Drawing from digital communication and teenage aesthetics, Love creates works coded with emojis,
glyphs, alphabets, and intimate artifacts that challenge the stability of identity. Their work act as
counter-narratives, exploring the political, poetical and potential alternative stories to be told and
reclaimed.
Ash Love graduated from HEAD – Genève (2021), as well as from Université Bordeaux Montaigne and
Macquarie University Sydney (2018). Their work has been presented in solo exhibitions at Continuum,
Bordeaux; Prenzlauer Studio, Berlin; Forde, Geneva and Exo Exo, Paris as well as in numerous group
exhibitions in galleries and institutions including the 66th Salon de Montrouge; Martin Asbæk Gallery,
Copenhagen; CAPC, Bordeaux; Basel Social Club, Basel; Galerie Sultana, Paris; CAC la Synagogue
de Delme, Delme; Soft Power, Berlin; MABA (Fondation des Artistes), Nogent-sur-Marne; and Sissi
Club, Marseille. Ash Love’s works have entered several French public collections, such as the Fonds
d’art contemporain – Paris Collections; the CAPC Museum of Contemporary Art, Bordeaux; and the
Ville de Montrouge Collection. In 2025, the artist takes part in their first art fair presentation at Art
Basel Paris as part of their collaboration with Exo Exo. Ash Love is a 2025–2026 resident at the Casa
de Velázquez, Madrid.
